S15 Game 71 – Waratahs (28) vs Rebels (9) F/T

The second match this Saturday morning is an Australian derby that can go either way, and by either way I mean it could be a humdinger match or a boring as hell fixture that will put you to sleep or even watch replays of the Royal Wedding yesterday.

The Waratahs have AGAIN lost Phil Waugh and will be captained by Dean Mumm from the centre of the scrum. Another big blow to the Waratahs is the loss of Drew Mitchell to a broken leg, who has been replaced by the inexperienced Tom Kingston.

The Rebels have made a bold move in dropping Daniel Cipriani and giving James Hilgendorf the opportunity to run the show. Striling Mortlock and Mark Gerrard make an ex-Brumbies centre combination with about a million caps between them, making up a rather experienced backline.

I predict the match to go in the favour of the Waratahs but not to the extent that the first match of the season went when the Rebels failed to score a point.

Waratahs: 15. Lachlan Turner, 14. Tom Kingston, 13. Ryan Cross, 12. Tom Carter, 11. Sosene Anesi, 10. Kurtley Beale, 9. Luke Burgess, 8. Ben Mowen, 7. Patrick McCutcheon, 6. Dave Dennis, 5. Sitaleki Timani, 4. Dean Mumm (Captain), 3. Sekope Kepu, 2. Tatafu Polota-Nau, 1. Benn Robinson

Replacements: 16. John Ulugia, 17. Al Baxter, 18. Kane Douglas, 19. Chris Alcock, 20. Brendan McKibbin, 21. Daniel Halangahu

Rebels: 15. Julian Huxley, 14. Lachlan Mitchell, 13. Mark Gerrard, 12. Stirling Mortlock (Captain), 10. James Hilgendorf, 9. Nick Phipps, 8. Gareth Delve, 7. Michael Lipman, 6. Jarrod Saffy, 5. Hugh Pyle, 4. Alister Campbell, 3. Greg Somerville, 2. Ged Robinson, 1. Rodney Blake

Replacements: 16. Heath Tessmann, 17. Laurie Weeks, 18. Hoani MacDonald, 19. Tim Davidson, 20. Richard Kingi, 21. Cooper Vuna, 22. Daniel Cipriani
