The bonus point win for the Sharks on Saturday evening was enough to keep the Sharks in second spot for the time being while it also secured a semi final berth for the Sharks. Six tries were scored and the Sharks looked good on attack but were on the back foot for much of the second half. How did the players do on a warm Saturday evening in Phokeng? Read my ratings below.

1. Dale Chadwick 6/10. Looked solid in the scrums and did his fair share of work in the loose as well. As a lifter, he would have to take some sort of blame for the line out problems.

2. Kyle Cooper 6/10. Was typically industrious in the loose and made quite a few metres for the team while getting through a mountain of work. The line outs were not good enough though.

3. Eugene van Staden 5/10. A quiet game by his standards. The scrum looked solid while he was on.

4. Jean Deysel 7.5/10. His ball carrying won him the official man of the match award. Another strong performance.

5. Ross Skeate 6/10. Got through a mountain of work in the loose and was very good at the kick offs. An otherwise superb performance was marred by the line out problems and as the senior man in the tight five he has to take his fair share of blame for that.

6. Jacques Botes 6/10. Another industrious performance rounded off by a try off the back of a rolling maul.

7. Marcell Coetzee 7.5/10. After putting in some subdued performances recently Marcell weighed in with some superb ball carries which in my mind just eclipse those of Jean Deysel. Whenever he got the ball you just knew he was going to make ground. He was my man of the match.

8. Keegan Daniel 7/10. A solid performance from the captain. He looked much more comfortable when the forwards were on the front foot. Rounded off his performance with a good charge down and try.

9. Conrad Hoffmann 5/10. Struggled a bit when under pressure and was sometimes slow to release the ball. A decent performance nonetheless and he managed to score a try too.

10. Fred Michalak 6/10. Played flat and brought the backline into play on attack. Was courageous in defense but perhaps needed to get more distance with his touch kicks when the Sharks were under pressure.

11. Lwazi Mvovo 6/10. Looked very dangerous with ball in hand and scored a good try.

12. Meyer Bosman 7/10. Made a few line breaks and was a real handful. He really put his body on the line, to the point that he had to come off with what looked like a neck complaint.

13. Adi Jacobs 6/10. Scored the first try and was looking lively.  It was a shame that he had to come off injured.

14. Sibusiso Sithole 6/10. Scored the sixth try which was a beaut. Was very closely watched by the Leopards defense.

15. Gouws Prinsloo 7/10. A very good debut. He looked comfortable at Currie cup level, even when given the added responsibility of kicking penalties for touch. Also very closely watched by the Leopards and was not given space to move.

16. Monde Hadebe. Made it onto the field but not long enough to be rated.

17. Wiehahn Herbst 5/10. Came on after half time and did well. The scrums struggled a bit in the second half and he has to take a bit of the blame for that.

18. Anton Bresler. Not on long enough to be rated.

19. Jan Andre Marais. Not on long enough to be rated.

20. Ross Cronje. Not on long enough to be rated.

21. Marius Joubert 6/10. Came on a bit earlier than he would have expected. Did well without being spectacular. Some good tackle busts and line breaks contributed to the momentum of the team on attack.

22. Stefan Terblanche 6/10. Came on for his 100th Sharks Currie cup cap and was solid if not spectacular.
