Clash of Kings tickets on sale next week

Here’s a reminder to all Durban-based sports fans – tickets for the much anticipated Pick’n'Pay Durban Challenge Clash of Kings go on sale on Monday 9 January.

Hang on – wait up a second, you say. The WHAT? Just in case you may have missed the announcement during December, the Sharks have agreed to take on the KZN Dolphins in a unique Pro20 cricket match at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on 22 January. Sharks skipper Keegan Daniel has taken up the challenge posed by Dolphins counterpart Darren Smit and will lead a hand-picked group of the finest Sharks cricketers onto the field of play to do battle – against the odds – with a bunch of blokes for whom cricket is a professions, rather than just a hobby.

There’s still reason for the intrepid Sharks to feel confident, of course, with many of the side having played a fair bit of competitive cricket in their younger years. Pat Lambie, for instance, was a formidable attacking batsmen whilst at Michaelhouse and if I were the Dolphins batsmen, I certainly wouldn’t relish the thought of facing any scorching deliveries delivered by the likes of JP Pietersen or Ross Skeate!

All-in-all, it’s going to be a great day’s entertainment and highly recommended for anyone who has an interest in either (or both) of the two codes. Particularly in these rugby-starved times, any opportunity to see the Sharks team in action – even if it’s not going to be in a rugby match – is one to be relished.
