Paul Treu’s SA Sevens team got their Wellington Sevens campaign off to a fine start, romping home to whitewash victories over both the USA and the Cook Islands this morning.

The Blitzbokke beat a determined American side by 21 points to 0 in the first match of the day, racking up 3 tries in the process. They followed that up with a one-sided 43-0 victoty over the outclassed Cook Islands, with 7 tries going the way of the men in lime green.

Cecel Afrika was the man to do most of the damage in the opener, scoring twice, with Steven Hunt adding the third. Cornall Hendricks nabbed a brace against the Cook Islands, with Hunt, Paul Delport, Boom Prinsloo and Frankie Horne adding the others.

South Africa face England at 20h50 tonight (New Zealand time) to decide which team will top Pool B.

In a day that has delivered a fair few upsets already, Kenya absolutely trounced Australia (35-10) , while Canada beat France (19-14) and Tonga pipped regular champions Fiji (17-14).

And just as I typed this, the Blitzies were on their way to a 14-10 victory over England. Thay have now topped Pool B.
