De Jongh cleared, Elstadt doubtful

Stormers centre Juan de Jongh will be able to partner Jean de Villiers in the midfield when they face the Sharks at Newlands this weekend. The jaw injury that de Jongh picked up in preseason has healed, and it is certain that the player will be included in the match 22.

Whether the coach throws him straight into the starting fifteen remains to be seen though, as Bryan Habana has impressed in his role at outside centre and would have liked a few more chances in the position.

Rynardt Elstadt is still not a certainty for the Sharks match, as he recovers from his injury, and a call will be made later in the week. Peter Grant will be returning to training on Wednesday, following his stint in Japan, and it is unlikely that he will see action this weekend.

On the injuries side, Schalk Burger will not require an operation on his torn medial ligaments, but it is expected that the flanker will be out for around six weeks.

Both Andries Bekker and Jean de Villiers sat out training on Monday following injury niggles picked up against the Hurricanes, but both players will be available for selection against the Sharks.
