Crusaders sitting pretty

The Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder has told media that Richie McCaw might be considered to play off the bench against the Waratahs this weekend, with the regular captain making great strides in his recovery and itching to play. reports that McCaw might be considered a bench player this weekend, but that the decision will be discussed with the player before the team is announced, and that he will not push McCaw back into rugby until he is 100% ready.

Blackadder was quoted as saying that Kieran Read and Sam Whitelock have put in a lot of game time over the season so far, and it would be good to give them some time off the park. With Read currently the captain of the side, it will be McCaw who replaces him from the bench, and possible starting a week later, to give Read the time off.

In other news, reserve hooker, Quentin MacDonald has been ruled out of rugby for a few weeks, following a shoulder injury he picked up against the Hurricanes.

The Crusaders beat the Hurricanes quite comprehensively and for the first time this season, looked like the Saders outfit that we are accustomed to seeing. Should injuries be kind to them, and they do eventually have both McCaw and Carter in their regular positions, this team will take a lot to beat come the business end of the season.
