Australia lose key personnel for tests

Australia’s International matches against Scotland and Wales has taken a blow after news came through that both James Horwill and Kurtley Beale were injured over the weekend, and will take no part in the Tests. James Horwill was coach Robbie Deans’ captain at the World Cup, and it was expected that he will lead the team again.

News24.com reports that Horwill tore his hamstring against the Brumbies on Saturday, but is expected to be back in July, when the Reds continue on the comeback trail and aim for that top Australian conference spot.

Beale injured his shoulder against the Hurricanes, as his team took a 66 – 24 battering, while scans have revealed that the playmaker will require surgery and will take no part in the tests. Beale was touted as flyhalf for this international season, with Quade Cooper still on the comeback trail after his long term injury, but Cooper has come forward to say that he is ready to pull on the 10 jersey for his country.

Looking forward to the tests, Deans is yet to announce his replacement captain, but it is expected to be either David Pocock or Will Genia who will lead the team.
