The Crusaders have made a few changes to their team that played a fortnight ago against the Blues, with early season captain Kieran Read back in the team, starting at the back of the scrum with captain Richie McCaw shifting back to his preferred flanker role.

The changes means a drop to the bench for Matt Todd, while the Franks brothers swop places with Ben getting a shot to start and Owen keeping the bench warm.

The bye seems to have done the Crusaders a deal of good as Dan Carter retains his 10 jersey even with Tom Taylor fit again, who is back on the bench in place of Tyler Bleyendaal.

The Crusaders face the Highlanders in Christchurch on Friday in what should be a tough match for both teams, with the Crusaders seeking a win in their chase for the top of the New Zealand conference, while the Highlanders try keep their play-off chances alive.
