Lambie set to miss Bulls match?

According to an article on Supersport this morning, Pat Lambie joins a long list of Sharks players to be all but ruled out of this weekend’s game against the Bulls.

Gavin Rich reports that the Bok pivot’s ankle injury has not healed as expected, with coach John Plumtree admitting that the 21-year-old is struggling with lateral movement. Lambie will be given until today to improve, but the chances are slim that he will be fir to play on Friday night.

That, at least, makes the selection of the back line a little easier, with Fred Michalak assured of a start at flyhalf, with one of Louis Ludik or Riaan Viljoen to play in the number 15 jersey. More worryingly for Sharks fans, though, Lambie now joins Willem Alberts, Steven Sykes, Jacques Botes and Paul Jordaan on an injury list that is starting to look far too long, given how crucial this game is to the Sharks.

Plumtree will be able to name a pretty good team, of that there is no doubt, but it will fall pretty far short of the strongest possible Sharks line up and one feels that any weakness in the side will be ruthlessly exposed by a Bulls outfit hell-bent on securing home ground advantage for the play-offs.

The Sharks side should be announced later today.
