With only the Reds involved in the Super Rugby playoffs, the rest of Australia’s focus now shifts to the inaugural Rugby Championship, taking place from mid-August to October, with their first training squad already announced and set to commence training next week. reports that a squad of 27 players, selected from the four franchises not taking part in the playoffs, will gather for a three day camp from 24 to 26 July. The squad sees previously injured wingers in Drew Mitchell and Lachie Turner return to the fold, while new face include Nick Cummins from the Force, Rebels centre Mitch Inman and Waratahs prop Paddy Ryan.

Of the big name players expected to be in the squad, Kurtley Beale is there but his fellow Rebels back James O’Connor has not be considered due to injury.

The first Wallabies training squad ahead of the inaugural Rugby Championship is:
