Keegan captain for rest of season

Coach John Plumtree has confirmed via the Sharks website that Keegan Daniel will take over the captaincy from Jean Deysel for the remainder of the Currie Cup season.

The reasoning behind this mid-season change is that Jean Deysel’s rehab every week is apparently keeping him from team work exercises, and the decision to revert back to Daniel has nothing to do with Deysel’s leadership ability.

Other news, which is great considering that Paul Jordaan will miss this weekend’s match against Western Province, is that Tim Whitehead is confirmed to be back in the selection frame, having apparently returned from injury bulkier than before.

The team should be announced tomorrow with very few changes expected, with news regarding Steven Sykes’ injury non-existent, his decision to move to the Kings next year (unconfirmed) might see the player being left out in the cold for the rest of the season.
