A list of cures

Looking at the Springbok game over the weekend there was great sadness at the defeat and anger at the way in which we lost but there is also a faint glimmer of hope thanks to the performance of certain individuals within the team. With a few tweaks and a chnge in gameplan we can right the ship and get back to winning ways. Here then are a few cures for what ails the Boks:

1) STOP kicking the ball every single time we get it!!

2) Adopt a gameplan where the players are free to play what’s in front of them rather than being rigid robots who aren’t allowed to think.

3) Offload the ball in the tackle and pop it off the floor to maintain momentum!
Anybody who’s watched Pienaar play for Ulster and remembers his time with the Sharks will know that Saturday wasn’t his natural game. He kept the ball in
the ruck (at one point even kicking it back in) and and set up kick-chase scenarios.

4) Get the backline to start using moves instead of crabbing sideways!! We last used a simple scissors/switch so long ago that I can’t remember when.

5) Make use of dummy runners to fix opponents and create space!

6) Use and inside ball every now and then. (Last seen when Henry Honiball and Slaptjips used it against the All Blacks)

7) Get a fullback and flyhalf in who aren’t afraid to run the ball at the opposition.

Just using numbers 4 to7 will guarantee us a 100 point margin win against the Alllacks as they’ll be amazed by our change from the gameplan that we’ve been using for the last 6 years.

8) Offload before you come into contact with someone. Run for spaces, not for faces!!

9) Tactical kicking for the corners is a good thing…kicking and praying for a miracle isn’t! It would be awesome if Ronan O’Gara could wor with our flyhalves
and fullbacks.

Some of what I’ve said is lighthearted but a lot of it is just basic rugby sense that everybody knows but which the Boks aren’t applying.

What else would everyone like to see changed?
