Lambie to get his shot

Sharks flyhalf Pat Lambie may well be in line for a start at flyhalf during the End of Year Tour of Europe, according to Heyneke Meyer himself.

Sport24.com reports that Meyer was quoted as saying that he was not impressed with Lambie’s tactical kicking, which explains his role in the Rugby Championship earlier in the year, and that Meyer told Lambie to work on that in order to be considered Bok flyhalf.

Meyer was further quoted as saying that Lambie proved during the last few games of the Currie Cup that he had worked on this skill, and that Meyer will use this tour to see what Lambie can do at this level.

Meyer went on to say that he wants to go forward with two flyhalves for the Boks with it currently being a three horse race to play during the tour (add Elton Jantjies and Morné Steyn to the mix) and going forward it will be a four horse race once Johan Goosen returns from injury.

Meyer also commented on the amount of rugby being played by South Africans, indicating that he would like the system in South Africa to look at how New Zealand are doing it.
