The All Blacks have made 14 changes to the team that beat Scotland over the weekend, to do the business against Italy this weekend. Kieran Read takes over the captaincy from Richie McCaw, who takes a complete break from the match 23.

The entire team is new bar Julian Savea on the wing, who gets to start consecutive test matches and forms a new back three with Hoseas Gear and stand in fullback Beauden Barrett. The centre combination is the tried and trusted Ma’a Nonu and Conrad Smith pairing, with Aaron squared running the halfbacks – Aaron Cruden and Aaron Smith forming the partnership of the future.

The forward pack is completely new with Read joining Sam Cane and Liam Messam in the loose trio. Brodie Retallick and Ali Williams replace Sam Whitelock and Luke Romano in the second row while there are starts for Charlie Faumuina, Keven Mealamu and Tony Woodcock.

The bench allows another cap for Dabe Coles in the front row, while Wyatt Crockett and Ben Franks cover as well. Sam Whitelock and Victor Vito covers second row and loose trio respectively while Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Dan Carter and Cory Jane will do duty in the backline.

New Zealand: 15 Beauden Barrett, 14 Hosea Gear, 13 Conrad Smith, 12 Ma’a Nonu, 11 Julian Savea, 10 Aaron Cruden, 9 Aaron Smith, 8 Kieran Read (captain), 7 Sam Cane, 6 Liam Messam, 5 Brodie Retallick, 4 Ali Williams, 3 Charlie Faumuina, 2 Keven Mealamu, 1 Tony Woodcock

Substitutes: 16 Dane Coles, 17 Wyatt Crockett, 18 Ben Franks, 19 Samuel Whitelock, 20 Victor Vito, 21 Tawera Kerr-Barlow, 22 Daniel Carter, 23 Cory Jane
