South Africa will be the host for round 3 of the HSBC Sevens World Series this coming weekend, 8 and 9 December at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

South Africa (ranked 6) come off a disappointing 2nd round in Dubai a week earlier, after losing to Portugal (ranked 10) in the pool stages and ending up losing to Argentina (ranked 7) in the Bowl final.

South Africa’s hopes of lifting the cup in front of their home crowed will be a difficult task, being grouped with Dubai winner Samoa, together with Australia and France.

South Africa will be without their captain Kyle Brown, but playmaker Cecil Afrika returns to the squad and will face a late fitness test in the week before a final decision is made, Bernado Botha and Cheslin Kolbe will also be joining the squad.

Pools for the Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens:

Pool A: Samoa, France, South Africa, Australia
Pool B: New Zealand, Fiji, Scotland, England
Pool C: Kenya, Wales, Argentina, Spain
Pool D: Portugal, Canada, United States, Zimbabwe
