According to Christo Buchner from Beeld, the Sharks have appointed a replacement for departing team doctor Ewoudt van der Linde.

Van der Linde joined the Sharks from the Bulls junior ranks some years back, after the secondment of long-time physician Craig Roberts to the Springboks side, but opted to step down at the end of December in order to follow a career in radiology. His replacement is understood to be Dr Alan Kourie, a graduate of WITS Medical School who has up until now been employed as a sports physician at Constantia Sports Medicine in Cape Town.

Kourie is currently 33 years old and attended St Benedict’s College in Johannesburg. His uncle, also Alan, is a former national cricketer.

You can follow Dr Alan on Twitter, where his handle is @alankourie. Welcome to the Sharks, Doc!
