The Stormers will be captained by a fit again Schalk Burger, in this year’s Super Rugby campaign, after Jean de Villiers did a stellar job of it during the 2012 season, where the team reached the semi-finals.

According to, Burger will take back the captaincy, after he last captained the side in the opening game of the 2012 season, before undergoing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee is confident that Schalk will lead the team in much the same way as Jean did, and that the captain will make use of his vice-captain (Jean de Villiers) and other leaders in the team, like Deon Fourie, who led the team to Currie Cup glory, and other experienced players in Andries Bekker, Duane Vermeulen and the departing Bryan Habana.
