Southern Kings flyhalf, Demetri Catrakilis, is reported to be on his way back to Western Province, where he played a phenomenal part in the Currie Cup Final in 2012.

According to reports in DIE BURGER and NEWS24, George Catrakilis confirmed that his son, Demetri Catrakilis was given permission by Alan Solomons of the Southern Kings, to play elsewhere on a loan basis. Western Province is in an advance stage of negotiating with Demetri and will afford him the opportunity to play in the premier division of the Currie Cup.

Demetri will most probably be up against Gary van Aswegen for the Nr 10 jersey in this coming Currie Cup series. Van Aswegen was chosen ahead of Elton Jantjies for the clash against the Bulls this coming weekend, which leaves Jantjies chances for staying in the Cape a little less favourable.

Catrakilis’s long term future plans will rely on the relegation game that will be played against the Lions, and has a loophole in his contract, should the Kings not play Superugby next year.

It was also reported that Jaco Taute has gone from temporary to permanent and has signed a 2 year deal with the franchise, according to his agent, Eduard Kelder.
