The Southern Kings have announced their team to face the MTN Lions in the first of two promotion / relegation matches at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Friday night.

As expected the Southern Kings have made quite a few changes to the side that faced the Sharks a fortnight ago, with many of their first choice players coming back into the side. Among the backs SP Marais takes over from Siviwe Soyizwapi, Ronnie Cooke replaces Waylon Murray who returns to the bench and the halfback combination of Demetri Catrakilis and Shaun Venter step back into the side with Nicolas Vergallo and George Whithead moving to the bench.

The outstanding loose trio combination of Jacques Engelbrecht, Wimpie van der Walt and Cornell du Preez will again partner up for Fridays clash with Mpho Mbiyozo falling out the match day 22 and Devin Oosthuizen moving to the bench. Last week’s captain Steven Sykes moves to the bench to make way for Darron Nell. In the final changes to the starting 15, Bandise Maku and Schalk Ferreira come in for Charl du Plessis and Hannes Franklin.

The Southern Kings will yet again have a new captain leading them onto the field as Darron Nell takes over from Sykes. Ronnie Cooke will be his vice captain.
