Esterhuizen back at centre

One could argue that 19-year-old Andre Esterhuizen’s move to fullback for last week’s under 21 game against the Cheetahs was a good move, given that the young utility back scored two of the team’s five tries from that position. The Sharks coaches, however, see the big lad’s future at inside centre and have thus resorted him to the number 12 shirt for tomorrow’s game against the Leopards.

Sharks Currie Cup squad member Sean Robinson is the man to take over the number 15 jersey and it appears that he is set to be developed as a fullback, despite the prodigious pace that sees him able to play wing as well. Gareth Meikle is the unlucky man to lose out on a starting spot, dropping from inside centre to the bench, where he replaces Mike Bernhardt this week. Other changes to the backline see Rob du Preez and Hanco Venter start at halfback. Du Preez was pulled from the starting line-up at short notice last week, to be replaced by Brendan Cope. Cope and Stefan Ungerer will cover the halfback positions from the bench.

A single change to the pack sees Khaya Majola come back in, after missing out last week due to a niggle. The Junior Bok flanker will operate in the number 6 jersey, leaving Johann Meyer to continue on the blind side. Dylan Nel is the unfortunate man to fall out this week, with Murray Bondesio continuing as the bench option.

The Sharks under 21 side can go to the top of log with a good victory in Potch.

Sharks under 21:
15 Sean Robinson, 14 Kotaro Matsushima, 13 Tyler Fisher, 12 Andre Esterhuizen , 11 Alcino Isaacs, 10 Robert du Preez, 9 Hanco Venter, 8 Guy Alexander (captain), 7 Johann Meyer, 6 Khaya Majola, 5 Stephan Lewies, 4 Wiehan Hay, 3 Nicolaas van Dyk, 2 Greg Bauer, 1 Allan Dell
Subs: 16 Jacques Taylor, 17 Simon Kerrod, 18 Wade Elliot, 19 Murray Bondesio, 20 Stefan Ungerer, 21 Brendan Cope, 22 Gareth Meikle
