Reports are abound that Jake White has made his first signing for the Sharks on his first day as Director of Rugby.

Now, we have seen some really strange reporting coming from the Beeld, so we will take this with a fair amount of salt, but they are reporting that Jake White has brought lock Etienne Oosthuizen from the Brumbies.

Earlier reports indicated that Oosthuizen got a release from the Brumbies, stating that he wanted to return to South Africa to be closer to his family. Whether Jake White has actually played a masterstroke and signed the young man, remains to be confirmed.

Oosthuizen started at the Lions, coming through the age group ranks before playing a few games during the 2012 Super Rugby campaign, before heading to Australia, where he represented the Brumbies during the 2013 Super Rugby season. He was also part of the team that beat the British and Irish Lions team.

After initially having a lack of depth in the second row, the Sharks look to have an abundance of youngsters, starting with Pieter-Steph du Toit while adding Anton Bresler, Peet Marais, Stephan Lewies and Edwin Hewitt to the mix. Along with all the youngsters, the Sharks also have Marco Wentzel, who will be mentoring the locks and helping them with the line-out work.

Once we receive official confirmation about this signing, we will get the news up.
