Hollenbach replaces Mapoe for Lions

Lions coach Johann Ackermann has kept changes to a minimum ahead of Saturday’s round two VODACOM Super Rugby match against the DHL Stormers.

Willie Britz (bench lock) and Lionel Mapoe (starting 13) are the two injury casualties after last weeks surprise opening win over the TOYOTA Cheetahs; Ackermann has brought veteran Alwyn Hollenbach in to replace Mapoe, but he will wear his familiar number 12 jersey, meaning a move to 13 for Pumas man Stefan Watermeyer.

Britz’s spot on the bench goes to former Sharks age-group player Luvuyiso “MB” Lusaseni, who will earn a debut Super Rugby cap should he be called on. Also moving onto the wood as utility back is JW Jonker.

Lions:
15. Chrysander Botha, 14. Deon van Rensburg, 13. Stefan Watermeyer , 12. Alwyn Hollenbach, 11. Ruan Combrinck, 10. Marnitz Boshoff, 9. Faf de Klerk, 8. Warren Whiteley (captain), 7. Derick Minnie, 6. Jaco Kriel, 5. Franco van der Merwe, 4. Franco Mostert, 3. Julian Redelinghuys, 2. Robbie Coetzee, 1. Schalk van der Merwe

Substitutes: 16. Willie Wepener, 17. Jacques van Rooyen, 18. Ruan Dreyer, 19. MB Lusaseni, 20. Warwick Tecklenburg, 21. Ross Cronjé, 22. JW Jonker, 23. Coenie van Wyk
