Steyn’s Japanese move confirmed

Francois Steyn will head to Japan to play for Toshiba Brave Lupus after Super Rugby, according to the team’s weekend press release.

Steyn becomes the latest in a long line of Sharks Super Rugby players to confirm an immediate exit from the franchise post the 2014 installment of Super Rugby – however, despite initial talk that his deal would see him return to Durban for Super Rugby next year (and thus force his way into World Cup contention) there’s no specific mention of that clause in ant of the reports I’ve seen. We’ll need to dig a little deeper to figure out exactly what the terms of this move are.

Chiefs forward Tanerau Latimer will join Steyn at the club, which sounds like what you’d get if a VCR and an auto-immune disease ever decided to have a baby.
