Mvovo boost for Sharks

The Sharks will be able to call on the services of Bok winger Lwazi Mvovo again this weekend, if they choose to.

Heyneke Meyer has released two non-playing members of his Rugby Championship squad for Currie Cup duty this weekend – Mvovo and Lions loose forward Warren Whiteley.

Mvovo was an important player for the Sharks last weekend, scoring a crucial intercept try against the Blue Bulls that is considered to have swung the match firmly in their favour. With Odwa Ndungane’s continuing non-availability due to a groin strain, having the Bok speedster in the mix is a boon indeed for the Sharks.

Meanwhile, it has revealed that Namibian loose forward Tinus du Plessis is training with the Sharks over the next fortnight to see how he fits in – as yet, no contractual agreement is in place. With the injury cloud over both Jacques Botes and Stephan Lewies appearing to be lifting, there’s little chance that the Sharks would need du Plessis as a player this weekend.

The Sharks team to face the EP Kings will be announced later today.
