Hapless Border under 21s routed in fine style

Number 8 Louis Hazelhurst scored four of his side’s 16 tries, as the Sharks under 21 team ran out to a rather embarrassing 106-3 victory over their Border counterparts at Kings Park on Saturday.

With tries flowing regularly, at a pace of one every five minutes or so, it’s doubtful whether the Sharks took anything real from the match; the five log points won’t be enough to get them into semi-final contention (that ship has sailed), but did give them the opportunity to try some training ground moves in a match scenario.

Flyhalf Brendan Cope also got in some goal-kicking practice, slotting 13 conversions to go with a brace of tries. Lock Buzwe Mpotulo also scored two, with eight other players each dotting down once.

Sharks under 21 (106): Tries Louis Hazelhurst (4), Hanco Venter, Buzwe Mpotulo (2), Jacques Taylor, Barend Potgieter, Brandon Cope (2), Sipho Mkize, Michael Cloete, Sabata Mokhachane, Tyler Fisher, Sias Koen. Converions Cope (13).
Border under 21 (3): Penalty Devandre Sissing.
