The Springbok squad for the upcoming Rugby Championship has been named.

A large group, comprising 49 players, has been selected to take the Boks through the 5-game program ahead of this year’s World Cup in England. A match against a World XV at Newlands is the first challenge, followed by a shortened Rugby championship and an away match against Argentina.

36 healthy players have been selected, with 13 others making up a rehabilitation squad, with those in it in various stages of recovery from injury. Eight uncapped players, Scarra Ntubeni, Steven Kitshoff, Vincent Koch, Rudy Paige, Faf de Klerk, Jesse Kriel, Franco Mostert and Lionel Mapoe, have been included, while previously discarded players such as Frans Steyn and Heinrich Brüssow are also back in the mix, albeit via the rehab squad.
