Halfbacks cleared

In a piece of good news for Sharks and Bok fans alike, both Cobus Reinach and Patrick Lambie have been declared fit for selection for the Springboks this week.

Both have been out of the game for lengthy periods after sustaining injuries during the Sharks’ Super Rugby campaign; Lambie hurt his neck against the Crusaders back around Easter, while Reinach suffered a hand fracture during the opening tour game against the Highlanders.

Bok team doctor Craig Roberts has given the pair the all clear, though – along with Bok captain Jean de Villiers – and they will come into the selection frame for this weekend’s match against a World XV at Newlands.

The news is less good for number 8 Duane Vermeulen, though – his neck problem will require surgery which rules him out of the entire Rugby Championship campaign and also places his World Cup participation in doubt.
