Burger Captain, but will we see a surprise selection?

News came in yesterday afternoon that Heyneke Meyer has selected Schalk Burger to captain the side against the All Blacks this weekend. That was pretty much an expected announcement, but the team to be announced later today might shock a few.

According to various reports floating around this morning, Marcell Coetzee will not be in the side to face the All Blacks. It his replacement though, that will make you sit up. No, it is not Warren Whiteley. It might very well be Heinrich Brussow. Yes you read that right, reports seem to indicate that the Cheetahs hard man will play on the side of the scrum in place of Coetzee, while Schalk captains from the back of the scrum.

If that was not enough to get a raging debate going, Meyer could very well hand out a new cap this week. Vincent Koch looks to be in line to start his first Springbok match, replacing Jannie du Plessis in the front row. Whether Jannie is still reeling following a head knock last weekend, or whether this is another pre-planned rotation, we will have to wait and see what is said once the team is officially announced.

The team is set to be announced later today.
