Bitter blow for Majola

Sharks flanker Khaya Majola will play no further part in this year’s Currie Cup campaign, after a meniscus tear in his knee required surgical correction.

The 23-year-old sustained the injury during the Sharks’ first-round loss to the Pumas in Nelspruit and had a successful operation to repair the tear this past weekend. He will be out of action for ten weeks or so, effectively ending his 2015 season.

Also out of the running is lock Wiehan Hay, still looking to add to his solitary Currie Cup appearance from the 2013 season. Hay suffered a groin injury in training and has also had surgery that rules him out of action, presumably also for the year.

We’ll share a more detailed injury report once the Sharks release it, but would like to wish Khaya and Wiehan all the best for their recovery.
